Activating SAP GUI for HTML

The integrated/Internal ITS (Internet Transaction Server) is part of the SAP Web Application Server 6.40. It is automatically installed together with the SAP kernel. To be able to use a service via the integrated ITS, you must follow the below steps for activation and configuration of the Internet Communication Manager (ICM) to access SAP Over the WEB. Ensure that the IITS is enabled with status OK in SITSPMON


1) Specify the host with fully qualified host name (FQHN) with Fully Qualified Domain Extension (<server>.<domain name>.co.in) i.e., with at least two dots. (ask system admin)


2) Define the parameter in Transaction RZ10 ICM/host_name_full=<hostname>.<domain name>.net

Execute RZ10–>select Extended Maintenance–>select Instance Profile–>Click on Change




Save and activate the Profile. Restarting the instance is required to get the change

3) Activate the Internet Communication Frame work services in Transaction SICF–>execute SICF–>Click on Execute–>select the below Specified services and activate those



  • /sap/public/bc/its/mimes
  • /sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui
  • Enable Ping to check whether server is reached


4) Check Transaction SMICM and ensure that ICM (Internet Communication Manager) is Running


5) Execute transaction SE80to publish the Services



Select Internet Service and webgui/system and publish the complete service upon publishing then start the service, this will start GUI on the internet explorer (browser)


The URL http://<hostname.domain.in>:8000/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui

is sufficient to access the system over the web.

Alternatively the url can be feed with Client and language

http://<hostname>.<domain name>.net:8000/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui/?sap-client=001&sap-language=EN

The Port Number 8000-8999 is default and reserved for SAP WEB APPLICATION Server ABAP

The Port Numbers 50000-59999 are default and reserved for SAP WEB APPLICATION Server JAVA

6) Identify the port

Execute SMICM–>services–>http port displays the port number
